Betagro teams up with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi to innovate and boost supply chain management and logistics system competitive potential
This initiative is in line with Betagro’s Powering Change strategy
to leverage its supply chain resilience.
Bangkok – 20 July 2022: Betagro’s Center for Logistics Excellence signs an agreement with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) to work together on a development project in order to increase the efficiency of Betagro’s entire supply chain and Logistics Excellence system. The objectives of the cooperation are to boost its supply chain and logistics management competitive potential, and to respond to Betagro Powering Change strategy regarding Supply Chain Resilience and Digital Transformation. This year, Betagro’s goal is to conduct a pilot research and development project related to swine business. After that, it will expand research and development to cover its entire supply chain and logistics system.

Mr. Vasit Taepaisitphongse, Chief Executive Officer and President of Betagro Public Company Limited, signed an agreement with Associate Professor Dr. Montira Nopharatana, Vice President for Industry and Cooperation Partners representing KMUTT’s President. Witnessing the event held at Betagro Tower, North Park, Bangkok were other Betagro’s and KMUTT’s executives.

Mr. Vasit Taepaisitphongse, Betagro’s Chief Executive Officer and President, said that amidst the current rapid changes Betagro, a leading integrated food and agro-industry business operator, considers conducting research and development very important in order to improve its product quality, increase its productivity and manufacturing efficiency. In particular, supply chain and logistics management plays a major role in boosting its competitive edge. In addition, the Company is determined to create related innovation to increase values and meet the needs of its customers and partners in Betagro’s business chain.
This research cooperation between Betagro and KMUTT to increase the efficiency of the entire supply chain and logistics system not only promotes and supports research and innovation in the supply chain and logistics system of Betagro’s businesses, but it also increase the knowledge and potential of the supply chain management and logistics in the food and agricultural industries.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Suvit Saetia, KMUTT’s President, the cooperation between KMUTT and Betagro is in line with Thailand’s higher education development strategy- that universities are the center for job creation and knowledge application through the cooperation with the private sector and local communities. It is also consistent with KMUTT’s development direction to produce manpower in the science and technology fields with employability in the global market and ability to act as social change agents. In addition, they will be able to produce research and academic service work that respond to and guide the industrial sector and society in the future.
KMUTT is equipped with the Center for Logistics Excellence, a specialized research unit with over 20 years’ experience in conducting research with the public and private sectors. At the Center, experts in supply chain and logistics are ready to give advice to leverage Betagro’s supply chain and logistics operation in line with the Company’s present and future goals.
Associate Professor Dr. Pongchai Athikomrattanakul, Center for Logistics Excellence’s Director, KMUTT, added that food and livestock businesses are very important and valuable to Thailand’s economy. This is because Thailand has been an agricultural society for so long. At the same time, it has faced with new challenges affecting businesses, economy, society and environment. As a result, the business sector needs to quickly adjust itself and overcome the various limitations with determination and readiness to move towards the important goal of food security.
KMUTT’s Center for Logistics Excellence realizes that Betagro, Thailand’s leading food producer and agro-industry, has a long and complex supply chain from upstream to downstream. Therefore, the Center is ready to step in to support Betagro’s drive towards future goals particularly the development of supply chain excellence in order to increase its supply chain and logistics system efficiency and create business competitiveness on a long-term basis.
For the development projects to increase the efficiency of the entire supply chain and logistics system, Betagro has worked closely with alliances in various business groups and sectors in the area of Supply Chain Resilience under the strategy of Betagro Powering Change. This is one of the five areas which will enhance the efficiency of Biosecurity system and reduce the effect of uncertain surrounding factors. At the same time, Betagro is looking for opportunities to improve its current and future business operation.
