AIC’s objective is to improve Betagro’s animal feeds. It, therefore, conducted researches and combined nutrition with ingredients that are beneficial to animals’ production capacity while reducing organic waste. Examples of success cases are:

Low protein feed for pig

AIC has been successful in developing low protein feed for pigs. This feed helps reduce nitrogen in manure and animal feed. It also decreases phosphorus, animal feed costs and odor in pig farms. As a result, pigs’ health, their growth rate and farm environment are improved. Moreover, Betagro’s animal feed cost reduced by about 3% or approximately 350 baht per ton when compared with the cost of the original pigs’ feed formula. As at 31 December 2021, total cost reduction was approximately 3.99 million baht.

High quality powder feed for weaned piglets

Most weaned piglets encountered diarrhea and skinny issues due to stress. This led to a huge loss in weaned piglets. AIC, therefore, studied and developed powder feed for weaned piglets called BE-LAC 300SMI. This powder feed helps reduce a loss in weaned piglets because it contains similar nutritional values as milk from the mother pigs. The feed in its powder form also enables piglets to eat faster as it easily sticks to their nose and mouth. As a result, the loss of weaned piglets fed with BE-LAC 300SMI reduced from 15.8% compared with 17.1% for weaned piglets fed with standard pellets.

Floating pellets for gourami

Gourami is a type of fresh water fish which offers high nutrition and is widely consumed in Thailand. Mostly, gourami farming depends on food from nature and ready-to-eat sinking pellets which affect water quality and production efficiency as other animals may also eat these pellets. Betagro’s AIC has been successful in developing floating pellets for gourami which reduce a negative impact on aquatic animal farming systems while increasing fish production efficiency.
