Recent
global trend towards health has led the topic of Food
Safety to having major influence on world trade competition.
As a part of the system, Thai government has embraced
the concept and many campaigns are designed to promote
Food Safety among the public and private sector including
making 2004 the Year of Food Safety.
Quality Standards
Taken
as business responsibility, safe and quality food production
has been significantly the course of Betagro's operation.
A commitment to international standards becomes our major
strategy in creating a world-class competitiveness as
well as the common goal for every of our subsidiaries.
And the quality standards that Betagro Group of companies
has acquired are:
- ISO 9001 : 2000
- Good Manufacturing Practice or GMP
- Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point or HACCP
- ISO 17025 (for laboratory standard)
There are also promising projects for a concrete development
of Food Safety production:
Betagro
Foodtrace Traceability Project
Officially the first time in Thailand's food industry,
the traceability software is used to monitor the source
of product item through the setup of coding system
for the whole supply chain. The software is expected
to operate with high speed and preciseness.
Food Safety & Quality Assurance Project
Underlining the effort to become a food safety organization,
the Food Safety and Quality Assurance or FSQA Project
was originated in order to ensure the best quality food
products from Betagro Group. Every step of the production
process is free of chemical residues, germs, contaminants,
etc., and carefully controlled along the way to the
consumers.
In order to gain technical specialty in food safety,
"Betagro Science Center" is also well
underway to serve as Research and Development center
with central laboratory for feed, animal disease and
product test.
Assured Betagro Chicken Program (ABCP)
Strict control is assured through supervision throughout the whole input chain in order to manage the quality of every step in Betagro Group's chicken production process towards a shared standard. The ABCP project has attempted to seriously enhance Betagro's Food Safety scheme with a primary focus on chicken products. This project has looked into the group's various types of production units, including breeder farms, hatcheries, broiler farms, catching methods, transportation techniques, and processing plants. Further control covers the standard of feed and raw material supply, which are considered as critical factors for quality chicken products. Conformance with international standards for export products brings about greater confidence among customers. In addition, business opportunities can also be expanded and competitiveness elevated. ABCP can also be an operational tool to help protect the production from possible food hazards.
